In this experiment students add differing amounts of salt to the colored water to create different densities and they separate in the straw with the most dense on the bottom, medium in the middle, and lightest on the top. They really enjoyed it and learned density in the process.

The After School Lunch Bunch group learned all about texture yesterday when they made their own jack-o-lantern with their teacher Ms. Paula Thomas. The students took turns feeling the outside of the pumpkin, making observations, and then learning all about the seeds inside. This activity was perfect right before the Fall Festival and Halloween.
Enrichments have begun at EDS this Fall and we couldn’t be more excited about the unique opportunities our students have for their after school hours. Starting in October we have tons of activities that we hope you will sign up for. Mrs. Heinlein’s art classes begin next week, with something for all ages! Dance is back this year, starting Wednesday October 7. We are partnering with local Augusta Dance Company Cutno Dance to bring in a new and refreshing spin on dance, a look at dance around the globe (ballet, jazz, modern, and many more). Two sessions are offered, one for our 3-4 age group, and one for our K-5 students (this session may be split in two depending on interest). We are also excited to bring more theater/acting programs to the school, by partnering with the Musical Theater Workshop for a Drama Workshop on Thursdays open to 5-8 grade students, and we are finalizing the programing for an Improv Class to be held Fridays for 6-8th grade students. To sign up for any enrichment please reach out to Elise Michael, Director of Auxiliary Programs.
The Suzuki violin program is modeled after the philosophies and ideas of Shinichi Suzuki’s approach to Talent Education. He believed and proved that every child can achieve much with a nurturing environment. Parents must provide their child with a violin at the appropriate time as recommended by the instructor. Group classes are Thursday from 3:15-4 with additional private lessons scheduled on an as needed basis. The start date is To Be Determined. Please reach out to Director of Auxiliary Programs Elise Michael at email@example.com to sign up.
